Six Hindus Are Baptized into Christ

Six Hindus Are Baptized into Christ

Mike Hale, Internet teacher in Georgetown, Texas, shared some exciting news with us yesterday.  Five WEI students in India (all Hindus) have come to faith and have put Christ on in baptism.  Also, another Hindu woman who has been worshiping with the church has been baptized into Christ.

Prabhu writes, “Yesterday, Bro. Jayapaul sent me two baptism photos and called me on the phone.  He said, ‘The students who were baptized were from the Hindu religion.  Though their parents did not agree to it, they came forward to be baptized.  Now, they are wondering if their parents will cooperate with them in their future life.  They both asked me to pray for them.’”  Prabhu concludes, “I, too, am asking you to put them in your regular prayers.”

On February 23, Prabhu took his wife and daughter to Vakathippa for a WEI graduation ceremony.  Seventeen students received diplomas.  Following the ceremony, Bro. T. Ratnapaul took three of his students to Uppada beach and baptized them into Christ.  All three students are from “pure Hindu families.”  Following their baptism, the students said, “We have been vexed with this idolatry for 20 years.  Now, God has released us from the bondage of Satan.”  Prabhu writes, “When we heard their words, we too thanked God along with them.”

These Hindu converts will have a “tough row to hoe.”  Even though they are 17, 18, 20, 24, 25, and 27 years of age, their families will, no doubt, put pressure on them to return to Hinduism.  Satan will do his best to reclaim them.  Let us pray that they will soon be integrated into a local church where they will find spiritual nourishment and an opportunity to grow toward spiritual maturity.

These six new Christians are but few among many who have come to Christ in India in recent weeks.  God is using WEI to draw people to Jesus in India and every nation.  God is calling on his children to unite in spreading the good news about Christ to the whole creation.

We invite you to join hands with us at WEI as we respond to the great commission.  Students are waiting to be taught, but there are not enough teachers.  We need Internet teachers, postal mail teachers, and short-term missionaries in order to grasp the opportunities that God has laid before us.  If you would like to share your faith with others, please contact me by e-mail at weiady@aol.com.

If you would like to help others teach people who are eager to learn, please consider making a contribution to WEI by logging onto www.weiady.org and giving through PayPal. All credit cards accepted.
