Giving and Thanksgiving

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows” (James 1:17).

At this time of year, Christians all over America bow our heads and thank God for our blessings—the love of God, salvation in Christ, the abundant life, jobs, family, friends, fellowship with other Christians, shelter from the elements, warm beds to sleep in—even the air we breathe and the water we drink.

This week is also a time of giving.  Out of gratitude, we want to be a blessing to others.  God so loved us that he gave his only Son to save us from the power and consequences of sin.  Jesus so loved us that he gave his life that we might live.  The more like God we become, the more we want to give for the sake of others.

Last week, the population of the world reached seven billion.  These are people for whom Christ died, yet most of them are alienated from God.  God does not want anyone to perish.  He wants everyone to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).

God is using WEI to teach people about Christ in every nation on earth except the Vatican.  Literally thousands of WEI students have been baptized into Christ, and dozens of churches have been planted.

Yet, WEI has come upon hard times.  The economic crisis in America has put WEI in jeopardy.  We have lost $5,000 a month in regular contributions during the past two years while the demands on our resources have risen.  We need an additional $6,000 a month in regular gifts in order to keep this world-wide ministry going and growing.

Our goal is to preach the gospel to every man, woman, and child in the world from this day forward until Jesus comes again.  Please join hands with us in fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20).
